Mr. Ku, serious question here, you may be able to shed some light on this: If you've been in Indo for 10 years (cumulatively , so you could have left for as long as you want in the middle) I understand that you can apply for a KiTAP which is a permanent residency visa. Having this will obviate the need to bugger off to Singapore if you're not working. Me and Piss and the lads were discussing this in the office yesterday and wondered:

a) Is this even true?
b) If it's true can you actually get one or is it just a classic Indonesian theoretical thing?
c) Is it affordable or do you have to shell out 100 million?
d) Do you have to be married to get it?
e) presumably you still need a KiTAS as well if you're working?

In yer own time son...

not true. in order to qualify for KITAP you need to have had a minumum 5 annual extensions to your KITAS, without interuption or change of sponsor!

like most foreigners here, i can almost guarantee you do not have this, and that you will never probably fulfil these requirements. The system is *designed* like this. "they" (indonesian bureaucrats and government parasites) do not want us here, if you had not worked this out yet wink

even if you got the KITAP, you must *still* be sponsored by your sponsor company, and you must *still* pay the annual DPKK for your work permit.

KITAP? whoopie.

anyway, if you're still interested after all this, contact me and i'll arrange it for you. oh, bring Rp60 million in unmarked bills.

What benefits would paying the 60j bring us?

you won't have to report to immigration for 5 years (wuhu!) and after that time, if you so wish, you can apply for citizenship.

What about your Multi Entry permit. Does that last for five years also?

Is it 60j per person or can you get a whole family (wife and kid) for that money?

no, it lasts 1 year, as compared to 6 months on a KITAS.

that would be subject to negotiation. accelerated KITAPs are subject to a lot of variation in how much they end up costing, dependent upon the number of snouts in the trough at the time of application.

Just a thought, I'd have to wait another two years anyway to comply with the five year regulation and I was rather hoping I'd be transferred out of here by then anyway!

btw, if you already have 5 years continuous KITAS, the cost is much less. Usually around Rp10,000,000. it's the "accelerated" KITAP that's expensive.

Can you get KITAS and KITAP in the same passport? Do you need KITAS after KITAP or just a work permit for when you want to work?

Yes! Give the man a bloody medal! One of the best Indo stories of the year. Hopefully it's a big disco medallion with Bule Girl Bait engraved on it

Do you need KITAS after KITAP or just a work permit for when you want to work?

if you have a KITAP, and you wish to work, then you must have a work permit (IMTA) and you must pay the USD1200 foreign workers levy (DPKK).
