Well somebody has to say it ... there I was thinking England were going to be on the end of a good old fashioned arse whooping at the hands of Australia. Imagine my surprise when I found my self watching one of the best games I have seen for a long time, which ended in England once again booting Australia out of the world cup!

Even more of a shock when I woke up this morning to see New Zealand lost to the French. Usually they at least wait to the semi finals to choke.

Yeah that was top notch.
And the All Blacks stuffed as well. Southern hemisphere chokes. Great night of rugger

Shell shocked. I threw a curse on the team by not doing my part and drinking 12 pints before the game and screaming anti-opposition derision in a smoky bar full of Neanderthals. For that, my dead father, I apologize. I Cursed Hamilton similarly. For that, you English pig dogs, I don’t have any regret but to those who love the romance of perhaps the year’s greatest sports story, I do.

Anway, cut and paste from grandmother dearest: "New Zealand is in mourning today and it's hard to believe that the All Blacks are on their way home. But the French were the better team on the day.
Love,
Grandma xxxxxxx"

Chewwie, Roy's hair et al, my cell is now switched on and only the sneaky bloody Mary I managed to consume under gf's nose and my medicinal viewing of Braveheart has allowed me to be in the position to now be able to receive taunting phone calls. Kid’s gloves though please, I am in a delicate state -- mind and body.

In closing, rugby was the winner at the end of the night. It's a tired cliché but cliché are cliché for a reason. It may not have been pretty, free-flowing champagne rugby for the main part -- particularly, rather especially, in the first game -- but the matches should never have been expected to be festival affairs at this stage of the world cup. The losers, once their heads clear, will begin to understand this. The winners … well. Congratulations on strength -- both mind and body.

May tonight’s games be as entertaining.

All this reminds of that time when Don Bradman kicked six goals in the Melbourne Cup.

Like that time when Babe Ruth scored three touchdowns the Kentucky Derby.

Go Cats! etc.

It was amusing to see the coach and his team sitting in the stands during the final few minutes of the match. You know they were sitting there saying "well boys looks like we need to find ourselves another fucking job".

These New Zealand boys won't take long to bring down the axe again!

While I am no expert I have to say New Zealand were fairly stupid in the final few minutes. They were 30 meters out right in front of the goal posts with two minutes left ... Should have just taken a drop goal and moved on to the semi finals!

Its what Johnny would have done

"Imagine my surprise when I found my self watching one of the best games I have seen for a long time,"

It was one of the most appalling games of rugby ever, particuarly this year.

England were terrible, Australia were worse, that's why they lost, not to mention a couple of creative decisons by the ref.

The Oz front row were simply bullied out of contention, however, the NZ team should be looking at committing suicide; wtf?

Go Argentina....
