times are achanging. and jaksa is being swept along with the rapid development in central jakarta, esp. in the areas around bundaran HI, sarinah tamrin and kantor DKI.

there is talk of a carrefore being built at the southern section of jaksa. this would, of course, completely obliterate Ya Udah Bistro, among many others on the eastern side of the street.

furthermore, road widening on the east side of the street will wipe out nearly every watering hole and cheap hotel.

office developments are already moving fast on the northern end of jaksa. (okusi may well be moving into one of these; just as well, seeing as our office is destined to be demolished soon!)

so, enjoy it while it's here; the end is nigh ...

Where'd you get this info? And is it still going to have special privileges/tax breaks as a "night entertainment" area?

Jaksa can easily relocate to somewhere nice, like Lokasari.

i doubt it. i think the plan is to push jalan sabang as the "night enterainment area", as it has a better quality of pollution.

Sabang has more parking attendants per meter than any other street in Jakarta and therefore has the worst traffic congestion. And the recent renovations to widen its sidewalks (to make more space for warungs and motorbike parking) have exacerbated flooding. The only good things on Sabang are the two Chinese-run ruko grocery stores that sell plastic cigarette filters. And the fake ex-Sizzler.

Used to live across on the Gadja Mada side. Walking distance to a nice 24-hour cheap beer restaurant on Jl Mangga Besar I. That street would make an ideal relocation site for Jaksa.
