Press Council will establish school of journalism

JAKARTA (Antara): The Press Council in cooperation with a donor agency and the external education institute will establish a school of journalism, its chairman said.

Ichlasul Amal, chairman of the press council said Monday that the school was set up to provide education and training for journalist so that they can improve their quality.

He said that lately, the number of regional newspaper has been increasing, which was great, but the quality and professionalism of the journalists should be improved.

Ichlasul said that the school, which was expected to be effectively run in 2008, could be a solution for press companies to provide education for their journalists with a lower cost rather than holding training internally.

He said that so far the donors have yet to mention the amount of the fun they would allocated for the school, however President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had said his support. (**)

Accustomed to daft headlines, irrelevant photos and clumsy captions in the Indonesian papers, I was comforted on seeing this in today's local paper in Australia. Incidentally, the police haven't found me yet:

Save 20,000 Aussie lives a year? Why would anyone want to do that?

Regardless, how much tax do you think Australian smokers generate in tax for the government? I would wager that it would far exceed the amount spent on their healthcare. Think about it. Plus, the less old people hanging around the better. From an environmental perspective. Further, Western families in general are bothered by looking after the crumblies. Stick 'em in a resthome and forget about 'em. Very different approach in Asia.
place within us love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites, self-offering that tells the truth and does not deceive, forgiveness that truly receives, loving physical union that welcomes
