Draft regulation on negative investment list on final stage: Minister

Jakarta (Antara News) - Chief Economic Minister Boediono said that the Negative Investment List (DNI) now being drafted by the government had reached the final stage.

"The draft presidential regulation on DNI is now in the final stage. As it concerns several sectors, we have to check it with several ministers first and will announce it in the near future," Boediono said on the sidelines of a seminar on Indonesia Investors Forum here on Wednesday.

Previously, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on investment was expected to be issued in May, 2007.

She said the Perpres on areas which were conditionally closed to and open for investments was nearing completion, which was now pending final deliberations at the office of the chief economic minister.

"The chief economic minister is to take the draft to the president," the trade minister said.

Besides, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has also previously been scheduled to hold a technical meeting to discuss a draft presidential regulation on the procedures and integrated services of investment.

"After this, the next is a technical coordination meeting to be held in the following week at the chief economic minister`s office," she said.

At present, the government is trying its best to reduce the number of areas included in the DNI in an effort to draw foreign investments to the country.(*)
