Indonesia 2007 CPO exports seen at 11.7 mln tons

Jakarta (Antara News) - The country's crude palm oil (CPO) exports are expected to reach 11.7 mln tons this year up from an estimated 11.3 mln in 2006, with rising local demand limiting export growth, Indonesia Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) chairman Derom Bangun said.

The association expects industry-wide CPO output to reach 16.4 mln tons this year, up from 15.0 mln estimated in 2006, he said.

"Despite higher production, CPO exports will be flat this year because of a pick up in domestic consumption," Bangun told XFN Asia.

He attributed the expected stronger domestic consumption to increased bio-diesel production. (*)
