Can anyone suggest a nice hotel in Jakarta for a reasonable price? Say 400 to 300 thousand rupiah?

There should be plenty of hotels in Jakarta which cost Rp3-4K/night.
However, what other requirements you have? Location? And how nice is nice?

bruce, there are plenty of hotels in that range in the area around jalan jaksa (central jakarta). teh best is probably hotel ibis tamrin in jalan wahid hasyim. good business class hotel, less than Rp400.000 per night.

The Malawi Hotel cant be beaten for value Bruce. Its a great location and the staff all very friendly. Make sure you reserve something on the 6th floor as that is where the better rooms are.

Dear Bruce,

Nice Hotel in Central Jakarta is brand new managed by Accor that is Hotel Formule 1 for Rp. 354.000 nett per night. Close to Shopping areas, supermarket and cafes in Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat. Small but nice.
Or you may try IBIS Wahid Hasyim for Rp. 350.000 +

But if you are travelling by plane or train, you should stop at KAHA tour and travel in airpport or Gambir train station, they have discounted hotels. You may get Century Hotel close to Plaza Senayan for the price of Rp. 450.000 +

I reccomended Hotel Formule 1 because it is close to Downtown, Jenderal Sudirman and Thamrin and HR Rasuna Said streets where all offices are located.

If you prefer to stay in the South near Kemang, you may choose Hotel Maharaja or Maharani or Prapanca Raya Hote for that price.

Good luck and welcome to Jakarta.

regards... Himawan

Very detailed and helpful advice, sounds like there are a few excellent choices. Are the same chains of hotels - Accor, Ibis - available in North Jakarta? Kind thanks.

there's an ibis in glodok, if i remember rightly. more expensive, for some reason. and glodok is an unfriendly, sleazy area.

Hello, we are coming for holiday to jakarta. Last time when we were there, we stayed at Hotel Cemara, but I'm interested in this Formule 1 Hotel that Himawan talked about. Is it new? I never saw it before, especially when it is located in Menteng area. As far as I know there is one Hotel there, called Hotel Soyfan, or is it something completely different. And what about Hotel Cemara, can anyone please tell me, if it is still existing or not? that would be very nice. Thanks

i had a place on jaksa for like 30,000 rupiah a night. if i had say 300,000 to spend i would have bought the room next to mine also so that the crazy nigerian wouldn't have been able to yell at me all morning for making noise. so that would have been a nice place for 60,000 - also might have got some type of mosquito net. so all together maybe 70,000 a night.

In Kemang there's the new Kemang Grand Flora (?) and also another one across the road from the Kemang Food (poisoning) Festival. I forget the name of that one - anyone? Not stayed in either of 'em but they'd be about 400 - 500 a night I guess - better nominate your budget
