Government to Distribute 20,000 Units of Software

Tempo Interactive, Jakarta: The Research and Technology Ministry will distribute 20,000 compact discs of Indonesia’s software Go Open Source (IGOS) 2006.

This software will be distributed to all governmental institutions; universities, open sources communities and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren).

State Minister of Research and Technology, Kusmayanto Kadiman, said the distribution is in order to familiarize the public with the IGOS program. In addition to the Research and Technology Ministry, IGOS has been applied to the National Space & Aviation Agency (LAPAN) and the National Institute of Sciences (LIPI).

Earlier, Kusmayanto said, the Research and Technology Ministry has duplicated around 10,000 units of IGOS software to be sent to many institutions and individuals.
