SEEKING TEACHER IN UBUD

Pelangi Learning Center, a private non-profit alternative school in Ubud, Bali is seeking a volunteer teacher for our Kindergarten program.

We use a bilingual English-Indonesian curriculum and a progressive, child-centered approach to education. Each class is taught by a team of teachers, including a bilingual Indonesian teacher and an English-speaking foreign teacher.

We are seeking an energetic and talented teacher who welcomes the challenge of working in a village environment at a school serving a multicultural group of children in Bali. Ideal candidate would have some experience with young children, as well as experience living in Indonesia and basic knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.

Start Date: January 2007
This is a 6-month contract, for January - June 2007, with a possibility of extending.

Compensation: basic living stipend adequate for Bali, plus residence and work permits covered

why not? but be warned: small, private alternative schools are cesspits of bitchiness and instability.

I wasn't referring to myself but rather the tendancy for Australian men to get caught in compromising positions with children in Bali, Lombok and most recently Jakarta.

And anyway, isn't this website a "cesspit of bitchiness and instability". What's wrong with that?

it did cross my mind that this was what you were getting at, however my sense of innocence and gullibility got the better of me.

nah, can't be that. Australia, with a male human population of less than 10,000,000, has a total sheep population of 110,000,000. This means 11 sheep for every man, which is probably an adequate ratio.

bali and lombok, on the other hand, don't have sheep at all. they do, however, have goats. this could be where the confusion about "kids" arises ...

A New Zealand farmer is driving through New South Wales when he witnesses a truley shocking sight an Australian man rogering a sheep as it lay helpless, trapped in a fense.

This was too much for the Kiwi bloke who was forced to stop and remonstrate with the errant Australian.

"Hey mate, leave that sheep alone. You're supposed to shear sheep, not fuck 'em," the Kiwi admonished.

"Fuck off mate," replied the Aussie. "I'm not sharing it with any other bloke."

Hi there, I'm new to this forum. Currently still in NZ, but planning a move to Bali as soon as I secure a teaching position. This one is not quite long enough for me. I have taught pre-schoolers as a reliever for 6 years, but I now have a Bachelor of Teaching and have taught Middle School for almost 4 years now, so primary school teaching is my thing. I have excellent references, am strong in Literacy and Numeracy, am ICT proficient, specialise in the Arts, esp. drama and dance, (I paint, write, act and dance myself), but am competent in all areas of the curriculum.
I have genuine reasons for wanting to live in Bali... working with children/youth and teaching English. The advertisied position is probably not suitable for me, and probably gone, but if you could pass the word around for me, or know of any up-and-coming positions especially within comutung distance of Kuta area or Benoa/Nusa Dua, I would be really thankful.
Cheers,
Hetts.

There was me in all my innocence thinking that this was a thread about teachers...

I'll leave then in the absence of sheep jokes. I will say that I fucking hate goats. I don't know why. There's just something fundamentally unloveable about them.

Anyway. Now I'm off to another thread (if I can find a nice one). I don't expect to return...

There was an old Greek man lying on his deathbead... he starts wailing and his son moves closer to his bedside... "What's wrong Papa?" "I tries so hard to make a good name for our family" he cries. The son clasps his father's hand. " I plant a whole vineyard... Am I known as Virgil the Winemaker? NO!....I build a beautiful home for my wife and family... Am I known as Virgil the House builder? But NO!! ... I make a whole fleet of fishing boats and supply fish to all the village...Am I known as Virgil the Fisherman? NO!!! ... I fucka one goat!..."
