Mobile Market Tipped to Expand 27% Annually

Indonesia’s mobile telecommunications market is predicted to expand 27% annually in the next four years, with subscribers estimated to reach 155 million in 2010.

Sales director of Nokia Networks Asia Pacific, Ashwini Bakshi, said the country’s mobile telecommunications market is unique because the number of subscribers has increased significantly but the operators' average revenue per user (ARPU) has declined.
Indonesia, China and India have all reported a high growth in mobile telecommunications sector in the Asia Pacific region, Bakshi said, according to Antara.

Tight competition among operators makes Indonesia a potential market for network procurement, he said.

Nokia predicted that the value of mobile telecommunication business in the country will reach $9.5 billion in 2010, up from $3.6 billion last year.
