Right oh here goes....
Last time I was in Indo I regularly wandered up to Selabintana/Sukabumi from Bogor.
Of course, being something of an impoverished feral used to take the old Sukabumi train from Bogor station, which used to run 3 times a day.....8.00am, 1.10pm, and around 5.30pm.
This suited my scabby budget very much as the fare was around 1200 Ruppiah or thereabouts.
You soon work out that at that time 1 Bintang = 2 return trips.
And, there was plenty choice people to hang foul with, as well as nice places to poke about, like Batutulis,Ciomas,Cisaat etc...
Anyway, since I am coming back for another feral session in some days can anyone tell me if this infamous, broken down beast of trip is still running?
Thankyou.

Well....I answer to both, and both will get a response depending on one's state of inebriation.
Today Im relatively normal,so far.....
Anyway,thanks for your welcome there!
Hopefully someone lives up Bogor way, who frequents the depths of the station there and notices these obscure things!

Well to answer my own question......a visit to Bogor found no more trains to Sukabumi....but very hot, unlike before when Bogor was nice and cool!
Stayed in the flea pit "Pension Firman".....woke up covered in flying ants, other bugs, and who knows what else!

i think Mr. most_feral may be reminiscing about times past, when things were much better than they are now ...

Mr. most_feral: you can't go back, ok?? you can never go back.

Like this.....
I travelled a lot in Indo around 2000 to 2002,spending a lot of time going to more unusual places, and allways using cheap transport to see and know the country....
The Sukabumi train passed some great scenery, and many people were allways friendly despite the hard and crowded conditions.
The same as with many journeys made by the vast amount of the population.
Especially as so few Bule go these ways, then you were treated very well, and never lacked for kindness and generosity...
So I hoped to repeat this trip as only having a short time in Jakarta...which just turned out shorter than expected...
And was hoping someone may know some more details before presenting my old decrepit self in Bogor.....
And you cannot go back as there is now no train, only a long crowded bus or angkot ride that takes 2 to 3 times as long, depending on traffic jams and market days....
And who thought to paint Bogor station bright yellow and orange?
Now that was really sick......
As for Bali, the type of western tourists I passed in Denpasar airport...no wonder the locals despise our race except for the money we bring in...

Yeah had a read of that...thanks...actually it wasnt the braid brigade that was so much the worry.....
More the heaving kegs on legs with shorts and the great wedgy up the rectum, huge hairy arms drooping out of the singlet tops in some very cro magnum fashion, sweat stains front and back...
And there was a rather lot of them.....
I was informed by some of the traders in the airport they refer to many of them as "performing monkies",and they are well aware that they are poor tourists, but despise the way they act in a very superior and condescending fashion as if they own the world..or at least the parts of Bali where they tread.
Still they smile and build their wealth, and play the "oh you poor native, have some more Ruppiah" motif to the full.

What is perceived to be the "normal" Aussie is in fact devoluting in a most disturbing fashion!
I have seen some Asian people absolutly terrified of the size and immensity of some locals here in supermarkets.
A recent study showed about 62 percent of the population overweight, and if one removes immigrants and other arrivals over recent years, you will most likely find that the real fat figure for the "Aussie" is quite higher.
The study does not however differentiate between "overweight" and "bushpig".Country towns and low class suburban areas have a much greater "bushpig" population compared to "overweight",compared to the more affluent areas where the trend reverses somewhat.
Still these "specimens" on show in Denpaser were fearsome indeed!

Ah....Bushpig....
An Aussie female that bears the following characteristics,in bullet form presentation, as a corporate tosser would say..
Of rather large and gross dimensions...
Of rather nasty and unpleasant temperament...
Of rather more manly atttitude than woman...
Of rather hairy and jungly appearance....
It could be added they are the boss in the household, they have no problem in beating up the husband when circumstances are called for...
For example...
The husband is drunk.
The husband is horny and getting off on her best slim best friend
The husband is horny and getting off on anyone except her.
The husband comes home late from either drinking,or fishing.
The husband, well he is just there...
However the bushpig have their uses, when at closing time that's all there is,and u are totally shitefaced and horny.
Apply beer goggles rules to the above situation.
In cultural terms here in Australia you cannot call yourself a Queenslander until you have done at least one bushpig.
Most males have, and it is nothing to be ashamed of......
However this truth is only revealed while under the influence of hard liquor.
Hopefully this clears things up a little.
