Dutch businessmen to invest in Indonesia

Jakarta (Antara News) - A number of Dutch businessmen have expressed interest to invest in the infrastructure, drinking water, health equipment and financial sectors, Chief Economic Minister Boediono has said.

"The Dutch businessmen have profound interest in investing in those sectors after seeing the latest economic development here," Boediono said after a meeting with Dutch Deputy Prime Minister L.J. Brinkhorst at Finance Ministry building here on Wednesday night.

He said the meeting to discuss more concrete technical cooperation between the two countries was attended by some 45 business leaders from the Netherlands.

"They asked a lot of questions about investment climate here," said the minister.

Boediono added that the Dutch investors also asked about taxation and legal system in the framework of reducing legal uncertainty in Indonesia.

"Then we told them frankly that the legal system here has a lot of progress," he noted.

Concerning a business commitment, Boediono said he had got information that the Dutch investors had had business negotiation with their business partners in Indonesia.

"I heard from their leader that at least three investors from that country would start their business here but I am not certain whether they will invest in a real project or other," Boediono said.(*)
