Tempo Interactive, Jakarta: The Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) will begin the economic census 2006 on Monday. A Rp400 billion fund is estimated for this. According to the Deputy of Economic Statistics Department at BPS, R. Pietojo, yesterday, the funds will be taken from the list of subject matter of the BPS budget implementation.

“Ninety percent from that amount has been allocated for various training and honorarium for the regional officers,” said Pietojo. “So the authority for the fund is in the hands of regencies, not the central government.”

“The lack of funds, according to Pietojo, will be covered from the central budget for the cost of socialization and provisions for questioners.

In this economic census, BPS will only take notes of every business, starting from house-sized enterprises to large enterprises. The information comprises seven points: name, address, business type, business category, number of employees, turnover, and assets.
