JAKARTA: Justice minister Hamid Awaluddin wants the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to help him restructure the corruption-ridden immigration office.
Hamid said on Wednesday he was studying a KPK report on graft in the office, which he oversees, before starting a far-reaching restructuring program ordered by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The minister said he was also working with the Office of the State Minister for Administrative Reforms because the restructuring would involve replacing state officials.
Susilo has said he is annoyed with continuing public complaints about the poor performance of immigration officials and reports of widespread graft in the office. --JP
