Tempo Interactive, Jakarta: Air pollution in Jakarta is in fact the third worst in the world.

This is resulted from research by the World Health Organization (WHO) as presented by Sutiyoso, Jakarta Governor, yesterday (9/8).

“Our air is the worst following Mexico and Bangkok, based on the WHO survey,” said Sutiyoso, without revealing details of when the survey was carried out.

According to Jakarta Governor, the largest contribution to air pollution is smoke from vehicles’ exhaust pipes.
The accounts for 70 percent, and while the remainder comes from industry.

“That is why it is now time for us to implementing an air pollution cleansing program,” he said.

According to Sutiyoso, it high time for vehicles in Jakarta to start using alternative fuels, which are more environment-friendly.
