I want to make a point here, and then ask a question:
Point: There is always a lack of social order in Islamic countries. Latest example – the sinking of the Egyptian Ferry.
* The ferry catches fire – the captain was one of the first to leave his ship. “Khaled Hassan, a 27-year-old survivor from the village of al-Dhobiyah near Luxor who was traveling home after working in Kuwait, said he saw the ship’s captain jump into a lifeboat as passengers were left behind”……
* A passing ferry decides not to help the drowning passengers – “The captain of a sister ship rejected a plea for help from the Egyptian Red Sea ferry that sank with the loss of about 1,000 lives”.
* The relatives then riot, stoning police and passers by – “Hundreds of relatives of people killed in the sinking of an Egyptian ferry on Friday trashed the offices of the company which operated the vessel in the Red Sea port town of Safaga on Monday morning, as riot police struggled to maintain order”.
This is just one example of thousands. It seems that Islamic countries always run on mob rule, with little regard for law and order. The riots in Jakarta in 1998 are typical of what I am describing.
So the question: Is it the teaching of Islam that makes this occur, or is it that Islam is a more suitable religion for such lawless societies?
