I have finally gotten The POINT, the new English newspaper, that is.
Quick observations: Every story on the front page had a couple howlers (really glaring mistakes), but the best one was on a big front-page headline:
Muslims to use Al Qur'an againts corruption
And in the first sentence of the lead story, in fact the very first sentence of the entire paper that I read was this: "In a dialog preceding a fast breaking dinner at five-star hotel..."
In the other lead story, first paragraph: "The vehicles will come equipped with Logistic Integrated System and including six months maintenance."
Nothing about Mud flow or in sports, nothing on the US baseball playoffs (yet there were other really minor US sports stories).
On the positive side, it's all very neat and tidy in one 16-page section with color photos front and back; and the business section had a really nice full-page recap of the Jakarta Stock Exchange; and the op/ed pages had some very interesting, relevant articles on Munir, globalization, Iran nukes..., unlike those of the JP, which continually seem to shove down our throat info on a "certain" religion or what the real meaning of puasa is etc, etc. ad nauseum.
All in all, if you get a chance read it, but don't expect perfection.
Just here proffering my pearls to swine, my throat to wolves and my trousers to the flagpole.
