Jokie you can still eat bananas and sausages after 6 pm...
Not much in the way of "logos" in these repressive "religion of peace" cult rituals, imho.

I'm not trying to be funny or mock anyone, but some of these official koranic ramadan bans, are really, really bizarre. I have no idea what the heck #7 means, but #8 is something i would really struggle with if I were obliged to do the puasa (sawm).......

--------------------------------------------

Official Fasting Violations (if done during the day) from the koran

1581. There are nine acts which invalidate the fast:

1. Eating and drinking
2. Sexual intercourse
3. Masturbation (Istimna) which means self abuse, resulting in ejaculation
4. Ascribing false things to Almighty Allah, or his Prophet or to the successors of the Holy Prophet
5. Swallowing thick dust
6. Immersing one's complete head in water
7. Remaining in Janabat or Haidh or Nifas till the Adhan for Fajr prayers
8. Enema with liquids
9. Vomiting

There is a lot more detail on all of the above at this site:
http://www.majalla.org/books/law/fasting.htm

And jokie or any other gals, remember this edict from the koran when faced with the sausage conundrum this month:

1664. If something is put forcibly down the throat of a fasting person, his/her fast does not become void.

Well even tho' the pubs are closed, except those booooring hotel clubs (Dill you should be ashamed), I've prepared.. with several bottles of nice wine in the fridge along with pork chops, pork sausage (the wife's fave) and a kilo of fatback. AND doggie style at noon will be the order of the day. AHHH it's great to be an infidel. Let's have a Bacchanalia at my house, for all jakchatters, next weekend.

One more good reason to convert to the "Religion of Peace"

Au Contraire, No problem at all, I wholeheartedly agree. That's precisely why I said it's one more reason to convert.

Shesca, what do you mean, "nope, I am a catholic" ??

Catholics have a grand and ancient tradition of fasting (however, it doesn't include those bizarre things like vomiting and enemas -- simply food and drink). Catholic fasting and Lent, in fact, was copied by MO, he just named it ramadan. YOur church, shesca, was carrying out regular fasts a thousand years before this so-called "religion of peace" had even been born. I know some Catholics that Fast every week of the year for at least a full day whether its ramadan or not. AND devout ones are obliged to do so during lent and before communion.

And I'm an anarchist-california-separatist-libra who often fasts each and every Monday throughout the year for my own personal reasons. So don't underestimate yourself or your own faith just because you live in muzzie country that thinks their "sawm" is the end all and be all and nobody else matters. "We" were doing it a thousand years before their religion was even born.

I think she meant she wasn't fasting for Ramadan Ricky, because Christians are not obligated to fast at this time. Take a chill pill man. yeesh you guys have been grumpy while I have been away.

With you on that one Mags, during Lent they only have to give up a "vice" No fasting involved!

Hey Riccardo, colonic irrigation may be a quicker alternative to the Monday fast!

Magpie, in no way did I intend to come across as "grumpy" or un-chilled. I was trying to encourage her to be strong and proud of her choices and not be intimidated (as a minority catholic) by this tyranny of the majority that minorities like her and my wife often face here.

AND Dill there are hundreds of different versions of fasting, serious stuff too -- like 72 hours straight without anything at all -- for different groups of catholics. And I take a certain amount of pleasure in my Monday fasts (which actually go completely from Sunday dinner to Tuesday breakfast) -- kinda like a challenge to see if I can overcome the pain and for health reasons... a colonic irrigation would not be the same, and goodness sakes it sounds disgusting.
