If anyone is unlucky enought to go to Singapore for whatever reason in the next few weeks you must watch a documentary called 'Crazy about English'. A quite amusing but surprisingly touching account of the Chinese drive to learn English ahead of the Olympics. Dilli, you will laugh your arse off. Any teacher out there, this is the perfect way to motivate students without actually having to be in class--the ideal situation I understand. But dubious about the Singaporean government funding of the film but it is probably part of their overall campaign to encourage English Usage. I would rate it about 6.5 to 7/10 out of ten on my international doco scale but personally rate it a little higher because of the Asian connection. However, I would not like to give a final score because I remain unsure of the motivations behind it.
