I found this on another forum I frequent... FYI

AIRPORT WARNING!

Last Saturday August 9th I had my wallet stolen right off the luggage scanner at the International Terminal of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. I had a porter to place two heavy items of luggage onto the first scanner prior to check-in, and I then placed my handbag (containing my wallet) and my carry-on bag onto the belt myself. My handbag was safely (I thought) nestled between a suitcase and my carry-on. I then proceeded to the walk-through metal detector and waited for my luggage on the other side. Three items of luggage appeared - and then there was a wait for my handbag, which then emerged, but not in the original position. Panicking at first, I was then relieved to see it, only to discover at the check-in counter that my wallet wasn't in the handbag anymore!

I returned to the security scanner staff to ask and complain loudly but no-one had seen anyone take anything - and no-one was particularly interested in listening to me. I could have missed my plane to report this to the police, but I decided it was more important to catch my flight. Luckily I was able to cancel my credit cards by phone, but I lost a lot of cash and other items.

The moral of the story: always wait until every item of your luggage has actually entered the X-ray machine before you proceed to the metal detector. There may be criminals watching your every move, and waiting to take advantage.

Call me a bit of a cynic, but if this is true, I'd be blaming the security staff themselves - not some criminal who's waiting in the background for you to make some mistake.

That's my 2 pence, anyway.

I think she actually meant the security staff themselves when she said "the criminals"

- it didnt happen to me... I just thought I'd pass it on...

if it were true that securities are the criminal, then it's such ashame. i found it hard to believe, i think the inside airport is very secure place, thank goodness that never happened to me. But everyone should watch out for other passangers..and the luggage people..there are cases their luggage was opened and some stuffs are stolen.

screwvenir
anything that you keep (whether stolen or given to you) from someone's house after you've slept with them.
Laura didn't really like doing it with Chip so much, but she did nab a copy of Time Magazine with Mick Jagger on it from his house as a screwvenir.
