What sort of bars do you want? What area of Jakarta are you wanting your hotel to be?

Well Jaksa is Central and does have a good few bars. Although the quality of the accommodation may lack a little. Kuku can probably let you know the best of the bad bunch.
The other area that has a large number of restaurants and bars is kemang. It's south jakarta and if you are doing a lot of travel then traffic may be in issue. Hotels - at the cheap end you have prapanca hotel and if you can afford 450,000 a night then Grand Flora hotel is good value - nice rooms, great staff and has the luxury of a pool to cool down in.
Areas to try for nights out would be Jaksa, Kemang, Kota and Blok M. While I am not a big fan of the blok there are some good "non-ayam" bars (One Tree, Sportsman and Everest) and the other bars in the street will also provide you with a few stories to tell when you get back home.

Itinerary example: Start the evening at Jaksa, then move on to Red Square at Senayan, and finish the night off in Kota.

Chewwy, 140,000 is about £30 per night right? Is that price if you turn up plenty in advance or just on the day?
How much would a night in the prapanca hotel be?
Is is best for us to just turn up in jakarta and then find our ways to the hotel and pay there and then? or will it be busy in March?
Also what kind of temperature will it be in jakarta in march?

screwvenir anything that you keep (whether stolen or given to you) from someone's house after you've slept with them. Laura didn't really like doing it with Chip so much, but she did nab a copy of Time Magazine with Mick Jagger on it from his house as a screwvenir.
