Dear guys, I need some advice and hopefully some help regarding an Impex trading company formation. What are the steps and how painful the process is and how much will it cost? I have an Indo passport, so I'm hoping it will be cheaper. But I don't have things like KK or what not. I just want to know if it's worth the hassle. Any ideas? Please enlighten me. Thanks guys, I love you all! Even if you're not helping lol.

import? just don't do it, unless you have very serious intentions, and the ability to import at least (say) six or so containers per year. it really is not worth your time, money and hassle.
setting up the actual company is relatively simple, however you *must* have a KTP and NPWP. not negotiable these days. getting an NPWP will mean obtaining a KK. (the kind people at okusi can assist with this also, but first re-read first paragraph.)
the *real* hassle starts with the import permit and Surat Registrasi Pengimpor. just trust me on this: you *don't* want to be an importer.

Thank you Kuku, but how about exporting? I just want to set a legal entity so I won't get screwed. Not so much of an importer, more of a exporter. Is it the same hassle as processing an import permit? Either way, I still need your help obtaining KK and NPWP.

exporting is not a problem at all. at least, as far as licensing and legal infrastructure are concerned. the real problem with exporting is getting paid by your customers. basically, make sure you have customers lined up before you even start. and determine, how exactly are they going to pay for these goods...

Thanks Kuku.
Most of the time, I have a lot of customers but no goods available.
That's why I was thinking about setting up a company because payment with L/C will only work for companies.
I can, however, be an individual not a company but it's pretty tricky. This means I have to travel back and forth not to mention the risks of not getting paid or paid really low.
Or, just getting paid by T/T.
Any suggestions?

screwvenir anything that you keep (whether stolen or given to you) from someone's house after you've slept with them. Laura didn't really like doing it with Chip so much, but she did nab a copy of Time Magazine with Mick Jagger on it from his house as a screwvenir.
