I'm new to Jakarta. Is there a good place to meet / pick up girls during the day? I know there are a lot of nightspots, but what about in the afternoon?
thx

i've heard people before mention mall ambassador as a "pick up" place. frankly, i can't understand it. the place is an overcrowded unpleasant rabbit warren. who could you possibly "pick up" in an environment like that?

Jings! I once witnessed T. Rex in action there one afternoon. A truly awesome sight to behold. We'd just got rid of the birds from the previous night and finished all the beers at his place, and were on our way to a high-class drinking establishment on Jaksa, when T. Rex decided we should stop at Ambassador for a meal on account of him being banned from Yaudah. T. Rex fluently flirted and drunkenly flitted from one store to the next, from one kiosk to the next, flattering, charming and groping every shop-girl we encountered. I was amazed that they all seemed to lap up the attention, but then again, T. Rex is a god.

Perhaps they need a T Rex version off this....
TOKYO (AP) - Did you just grope me? Shall we head to the police? That's the message women are flashing on their cell phones with a popular program designed to ward off wandering hands in Japan's congested commuter trains.
"Anti-Groping Appli" by games developer Takahashi was released in late but has only recently climbed up popularity rankings, reaching No. 7 in this week's top-10 cell phone applications list compiled by Web-based publisher Spicy Soft Corp.
The application flashes increasingly threatening messages in bold print on the phone's screen to show to the offender: "Excuse me, did you just grope me?" "Groping is a crime," and finally, "Shall we head to the police?"
Users press an "Anger" icon in the program to progress to the next threat. A warning chime accompanies the messages.
The application, which can be downloaded for free on Web-enabled phones, is for women who want to scare away perverts with minimum hassle and without attracting attention, according to Takahashi's Web site.
"I first downloaded this as a joke," said Spicy Soft official Michika Izumi. "But I think it could be a lifesaver if I get groped."
Izumi said more users appeared to have recently discovered Takahashi's "Anti-Groping Appli" because of a series of new applications unveiled by the creator this year, including a popular number game, horoscope and blogging program.
Offerings of games and applications for mobile phones have surged in Japan. A survey published by Web research company Yahoo Value Insight in July said 61 percent of Japanese cell phone owners use applications almost every day.
According to Tokyo Metropolitan Police, 1,853 people were arrested for groping passengers on trains in Tokyo in 2005. Experts say the incidence of harassment on trains is much higher, but women are often too embarrassed to report it.

Rex would occasionally get lamped for his pains though Admittedly he did end up on Patroli once, having been bricked and beaten by a group of young preman, but that was merely due to a misunderstanding. He'd just been enjoying the company of a professional young woman at a high-class establishment off Hayam Wuruk, when her friend decided to join the fun and afterward demanded an unreasonable amount of recompense. Naturally our hero legged it, only to be confronted by some angry youths. And by coincidence, a Patroli crew were on their way to film some police raids when they stumbled across a very drunk bule with claret flowing from his head and back. There were no such incidents when he charmed 100 women in the space of an hour at Ambassador.

Ken would there be a youtube posting or possibly a bootleg copy being sold out of the boot as it were? Indosiar archives their "news" shows, so presumably that includes Patroli. You can visit and request the footage, and for a fee, probably copy it. I don't remember the date, but it was likely 2005 or 2006. Witty Handle should remember.

screwvenir anything that you keep (whether stolen or given to you) from someone's house after you've slept with them. Laura didn't really like doing it with Chip so much, but she did nab a copy of Time Magazine with Mick Jagger on it from his house as a screwvenir.
