Thanks for the info. My husband, had to copy the movie for someone at work about a month ago... (metro tv) but he didnt make an extra copy, cuz the thought I wouldnt be interested! doh.. and the 30th of sept is his birthday! hehehe..

He would have had very miserable TV birthday nights as a kid/teenager/young adult. I remember when that film was the only thing on all the terrestrial channels at night on Sept 30. Started finding "favorite scenes" such when the kid of one slain general unconvincingly screams "father, they have killed you" - or something like that.

Yeh i remember seeing it on the telly too when I lived here in the early 90's but I dont remember much from the actual movie.

As for miserable tv nights, I dont think it would have worried him too much.

The worst would be, having someone run down the street saying the mob was coming in Ambon and had to get out with only minutes to spare. Their house was burnt to the ground. Even now, he wont even look at a story or pictures from the Ambon riots, the whole family fled to his grandfathers house in Yogja, they lost everything.

Now, half way thru the movie, the acting is better than today's sinetrons!

That's not saying much! Although today's sinetron are more interesting than Formula 1. And Amaroso Katamsi is better looking than Suharto, which is saying naught.

Oh, it was the PKI military officers vs the Council of Generals, with the PKI taking a pre-emptive strike.
