I am expat living in Jakarta, looking into doing a course in image consulting but there are no companies in Jakarta that offer such programmes. After doing a lot of research, it appears that I can either do an online course or attend an on-site programme in the USA, Australia, Singapore or in my home country, South Africa. Considering that I would have to pay for flights and Accommodation just makes this unaffordable for me.

After a couple of e-mails to image consultants across the globe, I decided to look at arranging such an image consulting course in Jakarta. I am currently communicating with TAIC (The Australian Image Company) as well as Nutri-Style (certified by AICI)who seem interested in my idea.

It looks like the cost for such a course could range between US$6,000 to US$10,000, depending on which company I go with and the number of students.

It will either be 5 or 9 day course, again depending on the company providing the training.

I am currently looking at the different courses offered by these companies and will decide on a course based on what they offer in terms of their recognition, certification, course curriculum etc.

Once I have a list of names of people that might be interested in attending such a course I will go ahead and finalize details e.g. cost, course outline, course duration, dates, venue, registration process etc.

NOTE: The course will be conducted in ENGLISH!

Are you interested? Please e-mail me on Atreview@gmail.com
Feel free to read up on it, you will find a lot of information on the internet about a career in Image Consulting.

So why not get paid to help people look fabulous...

Think about a career as an image consultant:

Imagine having an exciting high-paying job showing people and companies how to make a fabulous impression. Welcome to the world of image consulting!

"Image" is the way other people see us. It influences whether people will agree to our requests, hire us, and pay us the salary we want.

Image consulting is a booming industry thanks in part to the popularity of television shows such as What Not to Wear, Extreme Makeover, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

As an image consultant, you can give people advice that will help them achieve what they want - whether it is to get a new job, to make a good impression, or simply to feel good about themselves.

To help people look better, you might choose to offer services such as:

Image Analysis or Makeover Consulting (giving someone feedback on the overall image they are projecting and helping them develop a new image)
Fashion Styling or Wardrobe Consulting (reviewing someone's current wardrobe to determine what should be discarded or purchased, coordinating outfits, and closet organizing)
Makeup Analysis (you can also consult on other specific aspects of physical appearance such as: Colors, Skin Care, Hairstyle, etc.)
However, image is more than physical appearance. In addition to how someone looks, people also form impressions based on how that person talks and behaves. Therefore, as an image consultant, you might also consult with clients about:
Vocal Communications (such as voice, grammar, and vocabulary)
Non-verbal communications (such as handshakes, posture, and eye contact)
Etiquette (business etiquette, social graces, dining)
In addition to consulting with clients yourself, you can develop a network of strategic partners to refer clients to, such as hair stylists, makeup artists, dieticians, dentists, personal trainers, plastic surgeons, and voice coaches.
As an image consultant you may decide to assist anyone who wants image consulting services, or choose to specialize in working with particular types of clients, such as:

Women who want a new look
Job-seekers
Corporate executives
Beauty pageant contestants
Lawyers and their clients
Cancer survivors
Television personalities
Spouses of recently promoted executives
Transgender individuals
Politicians
Singles seeking a partner

While many individuals hire image consultants, you may also be hired by corporate clients. For example, a company might hire you to help a new supervisor communicate effectively with employees, or to coach a senior executive to make a good impression during television interviews.

Image consultants are also paid up to thousands of dollars a day to present training programs (seminars or workshops) on topics related to image. Companies may hire you to present seminars on topics such as: dressing professionally (including dos and don'ts for casual Fridays), communication skills for new supervisors, and other topics.

Image Consulting is very broad and an excellent career opportunity to consider!

Reading that job description reminds of of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy --- I wonder what ship Image Consultants would have been put on. Im guessing they would be right next to the telephone sanitizers

Recruitment specialists aren't quite on the list!

FORD: I mean couldn’t help noticing, you know, the bodies.

CAPTAIN: Bodies?

FORD: All those dead telephone sanitizers and account executives, you know, in, in the hold.

CAPTAIN: Oh! They’re not dead! Good Lord, No, no. They’re just frozen - they’re going to be revived.

ARTHUR: You really mean you’ve got a hold full of frozen hairdressers?

CAPTAIN: Oh yes. Millions of them! Hairdressers, tired T.V. producers, insurance salesmen, personnel officers…

NUMBER TWO: Security guards…

NUMBER ONE: Management consultants…

....................

ARTHUR: What’s a “B Ark”?

CAPTAIN: What? Oh, well! What happened you see, was our planet was doomed.

ARTHUR: Doomed?

CAPTAIN: Oh yes. So what everyone thought was, well let’s pack the whole population in some sort of giant spaceship, you see, and go and settle on another planet!

ARTHUR: You mean a less-doomed one?

CAPTAIN: Oh precisely yes. So it was decided to build three ships, three Arks in space, anyway…where’s the soap? Ah! Thank you. Ah! So the idea was that into the first ship, the A Ship, would go all the brilliant leaders…

NUMBER ONE: The scientists…

CAPTAIN: Yes, the great artists, you know, all the achievers. And then, into the third ship, the C Ship, would go all the people who did the actual work; who made things and did things you see. And then in the B Ship -

NUMBER ONE: That’s us.

CAPTAIN: Yes. Would go everyone else, the middlemen you see. And so we were sent off first.

ARTHUR: But what was wrong with your planet?

CAPTAIN: Well it was doomed - as I said. Apparently it was going to crash into the sun. Or was it the moon that was going to crash into us?

NUMBER ONE: No, no, I thought it was that the planet was more or less bound to be invaded by a gigantic swarm of twelve-foot piranha bees.

NUMBER TWO: No, no, no. That’s not what I was told! My commanding officer swore blind that the entire planet was in imminent danger of being eaten by an enormous mutant star goat.

FORD: Oh really, really?

NUMBER TWO: Yes, but he was just hoping that the ship he was going in would be ready in time.

ARTHUR: But they made sure that they sent all you lot off first anyway?

CAPTAIN: Oh yes, everyone said, and very nicely I think -

NUMBER ONE: Oh yes sir. Absolutely charming.

CAPTAIN: That it was very important for moral to feel that they would be arriving on a planet where they could be sure of a good haircut and where the phones were clean.

FORD: Oh yes! Well I- I can see that would be very important.

ARTHUR: Can you?!

FORD: [Now trying very hard not to laugh] Sh-shh Arthur. And er, the, the other ships followed on after you did they?

CAPTAIN: Ah! Well, it’s funny you should mention that…

NUMBER TWO: Yes, yes isn’t it?

NUMBER ONE: Yes.

CAPTAIN: Because curiously enough, we haven’t actually heard a peep out of them since we left

NUMBER ONE: No.

CAPTAIN: But they must be behind us somewhere.

FORD: Unless, of course, they were eaten by the goat.
