My current SIM is about to run out. Does anyone know what I need (apart from the patience of a saint) to bring with me to Daan Mogot?

A healthy wedge 'o' cash should help. I'm wanting to try and get a SIM too. Hopefully my photoshopped version of WH's International License will help.

You really don't need to bring the wedge of cash, unless you're not entitled to a SIM for some reason. In fact why not help those who can't afford to hand over the "wedge" by not paying it at all. They usually (two out of the three times I've been) ask for an unofficial payment (ie a bribe) at the "foreigners" desk, but just ask whether you'll be getting a receipt for it, if the answer is no then don't pay - they know the gig is up and they don't press the point.

Although you can make them there, it speeds up the process if you bring a couple of photocopies of everything you might expect, ie passport, visa/kitas, and your old SIM. And if you arrive well before lunch time (say 10am) the whole thing is relatively quick and painless. Less than an hour including waiting for them to take your photo and print the card.

Under no circumstances use the parasite calo outside, there's no need and they're a bloody nuisance.

Oh, last time I made a SIM A and a SIM C at the same time. Lovely.

My KITAS is just about to expire and for some reason they won't give you a SIM until you get a new one. Just a little warning.

why need a SIM? just bring 100,000 rupiah and when you get asked, that cash is your SIM.

I got mine for 500,000 rupiah recently to renew, just had to wait a few hours for them to take my picture and a little longer to collect.....

Sorry to necro this thread, but a friend tells me I don't need to go to Daan Mogot to renew my license; since my details are now "in the system," I can just go to PolRes Jakarta Selatan, which is much closer.

Can the JakChat massive confirm or deny?

^^^^Never heard that Vulgy and my "details" have been in the system for years. Just got off the phone and even Nokia expat staff who have been here for years say the HDR still have them going down to Daan Mogot.........

Wife did her's last time in the traveling minibus they have that rolls around town. I think they setup at the parking lot at Ragunan Zoo every Thursday for the locals but call to make sure.

Yes I'm going to have to get one. My photoshopped version of Sir Witford Handle's international license may not cut it if I'm stopped and there are cops every fackin' where. Ramadanadingdong coming up and they're all looking for a wedge. I'll try and palm the Mogot massive off with the Photoshopped abortion and attempt to get the 'A' license. Not going to pay through the nose though, large as it may be....
