When I was hunting for houses to rent I was surprised how many people (especially in Kemang)were asking unrealistic prices. Very average homes with price tags of $2000 - $4000 per month, cash all up front for 2 years.
It's almost like the owners are stuck in a time warp and refuse to understand that not all expats have money and companies are no longer willing to pay that sort of money in rent.
After much looking I found a great house in kemang, brand new, 4 bedrooms, pool for about half the price of the above ad.

beside back in england or U.S you cannot get 2 floor house with 5 bedroom and swimming pool with that kind of price jakarta is not exactly the US or UK. certainly in australia you can get a house like that for *way* cheaper than USD2750. what's more, you would pay fornightly, not two years in advance!!

it's a big house, its not just an ordinary house, beside back in england or U.S you cannot get 2 floor house with 5 bedroom and swimming pool with that kind of price,dont try to compare with the houses in u.k or u.s which are ridicolously small ( like a rat hole!!)this house is not for peasant,...its a posh house thank u very much  Wowee, 5 bedrooms, so hugeeee, so posh... I've never lived in any other place than a rathole all my life. Does your house come with fresh non-polluted air, and drinkable, no e-coli infested tap water though?
