Is there any truth in the rumour that the first passports have been handed out following the crystalizing of the citizenship bill ?
Any idea where to get the application forms ?

It wasn't passports, just certificates stating that the person is Indonesian.

Standard level of missinformation as usual -

The JKTPost states "The children were exempted from paying any fees for the passports because of a transitional administration period, said Melati Transnational Marriage Community (KPC Melati) head Enggi Holt, who attended the event"

Which I take loosely to mean "the little turds were all children of foreign diplomats who have already given a good bung to various immigration officials so they don't have to bung again , that and the fact we can't work out how much to extort from Joe Public"

There are times I am glad that I have always kept things above board with respect to paperwork and the saucepans - properly married and all the rest of it - 'cos I reckon that is the next way that Susilo's cronies will get their holiday money - extorting money for "incorrect" paperwork .

Damn......I need to get one of those Dual Citizenship deals soon for my daughter. This KITAS and MREP crap is too much.

I would be more than interested to know how anyone from this forum gets on in applying and receiving an Indonesian Passport for their child.

The photos in the papers were very nice. note words "secara simbolis". this is New Order code for "we have the best of intentions that one day this will actually be real".

Actual *process* is still elusive. We are continuing to follow this up with the director-general's office.

Surabaya immigration apparently say it's not ready yet. Then they made a good-natured joke about how many children my wife has/will shortly have.
