I've been to Jaksa twice, both times on weekends. Once around lunch time and it seemed very quiet, nothing going on at all. The other time was during the Betawi Festival a few weeks ago, when there were people everywhere but still nothing good happening.

So is Jaksa worth another visit? any good places? or should I look elsewhere. Not sure where elsewhere is though!

Morty...

morty, jaksa is dying. slowly, but surely. there are in fact new bars and restaurants opening up, but they just aren't the same. too clean and hygenic.

I see - bummer. Is it the same all over? I hear that block-m used to be a much better place than it is now.
I get so bloody bored on weekends in Jakarta. All there seems to be to do is go to the malls. BLEAH.

yes, i'm afraid you've summed it up. blok-m has been dead for years, by all accounts (never been there myself, which no-one believes for some reason ...).

there's a bit of a pub scene down in kemang. problem is, it's in kemang.

Kemang? heard of it but never been there either. I also gather it deserves another... BLEAH.

I'm not surprised a sofistakated man like you has not been to block-m. My visits were obviously for academic research purposes.

ow thats sad to hear. the blok dead as well? where does everybdy go out then, stadium?? What about jaksa, memories cafe always was a god laugh, especially when there is live music. Ive had really good times there, is it all dead? what about all new developments, hopefully the old seedy style is not wasted, doe Naomi still rent out the cheap single rooms across opposite of memories?
