Broadcasters to be Warned for Leaving Anthem Tradition

Tempo Interactive, Jakarta: Regional office of the Indonesia Broadcasting Commission in Central Java said to issue warning to more than 260 broadcasting stations that includes radio and television, for leaving decades of tradition of the national anthem start

In its release received on Friday (9/4), the regional broadcast commission wrote “More than three months of monitoring found no radio and television have broadcasted the national anthem,” which the commission said violates the broadcasting guidelines of the commission.

The TV stations include Jakarta-based major names like TV One, ANTV, RCTI, TRAN TV, TRANS 7, TPI, Global TV, Metro TV, Indosiar, SCTV, and ironically the oldest state-run TVRI.

Since its operation in 1962 the national anthem is a daily ritual in TVRI at the beginning of its broadcasts, which was followed by all private broadcasters at the onset of private TV era in late 1980’s. but tradition faded as TV stations goes 24 hour in mid 90’s.
