there seems to be increased interest in maluku recently. besides people from this site, i've also had a number of clients who want to set up businesses there.

frankly, myself, saya masih trauma.

did you go to any muslim-majority areas?

people believes that the riot happened because some people (from outside maluku) provoked them. now live in peace and based on my experience, they have far far far more tolerance and peace then people in medan (the majority still racist) and even people in java. =)

they thought that i was moslem and they were still very nice to me, for example they try to give non-pork foods to me. after a week, we prayed together and suddenly they realized that i am christian and they say "ya ampuuunnn!! kami sengaja cari ayam untuk makanan". lol..

moreover they welcome investors from outside maluku with open hands. a swiss bule set up a luxury diving resort in saparua, make the site closed to public. instead of hate and protest, the locals respect "mister cool" and love his resort.

next week there will be world-christmas day (hari perayaan natal sedunia) in one kampong, ulath, in saparua. there will be a lot of dutch and european there for several days. too bad i have to return to bandung early =(

anyway, i went to some moslem villages but did not spent a night there so i did not know much about their lives..

sounds like things may be progressing in maluku. hopefully it will stay that way.
